Thanks to a major new grant,Women in Engineering Programs & Advocates Network(WEPAN) (Ann Arbor, MI) will be developing a range of new support programs for students and schools in the GE Fund's Faculty for the Future initiative. Initial components include a resume database and an Internet site to be launched in February 2002.

"These activities provide a perfect application of technology to accelerate our progress on the representation of women and minorities in the technical professions, " said Susan Staffin Metz, WEPAN president. "Through this work, WEPAN builds on its track record in creating innovative means to advance this goal."

Faculty for the Future, a 10-year, $20 million initiative of the GE Fund, was designed to increase the number of women and under-represented minority faculty in engineering, related sciences and business. To date, more than 40 universities have received support, over 200 students have gone on to faculty positions, and nearly 1,000 students are still in the pipeline.
