The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials’ Standards Council recently issued the industry's first consensus plumbing and mechanical codes. Developed under the ANSI-accredited consensus process, the 2003 editions of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) reflect the latest technological advances in plumbing and mechanical practices. These codes are an integral part of the Comprehensive Consensus CodesTM (C3) set, the first full set of consensus-based construction safety codes for the building community.

Developed in partnership with the National Fire Protection Association (NFP A), the Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA), and the ASHRAE, the C3 set includes the NFPA 5000 Building Construction and Safety Code, the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, and seven additional life safety codes.
