Technical Paper: Specifying “Quality Sound”
Date: July 1, 2007
There’s more to “quality sound” than low sound levels. This paper sets out to clarify the most commonly used descriptors of sound, including sound power, sound pressure, octave bands, noise criteria (NC), room criteria (RC) and the A-weighting network (dBA). It also examines ways of specifying desired acoustical comfort and emphasizes the importance of specifying acoustical performance based on an analysis that converts sound power to sound pressure.
