Syska Hennessy announces new leadership

May 1, 2008

Brennen and Izzo named co-chief executive officers.

Syska Hennessy Group, Inc. announced the appointment of Gary Brennen and Cyrus Izzo as co-chief executive officers and co-chief operating officers. In restructuring the firm’s senior management, John Magliano will remain in his position as chairman, providing leadership continuity and guidance.  G. Venkata Ramu has been named vice chairman and will continue to lead the firm’s technical advancement as chief engineer.

“Cyrus and Gary have been powerful contributors to the unprecedented growth of Syska Hennessy Group,” noted Magliano.  “Their appointments usher in a new era for the firm, building on a legacy of technical leadership that goes back to our founding almost 80 years ago.”

Brennen began his career with Syska Hennessy Group in 1982.  He most recently served as executive vice president and managing director for the firm’s Western region. He continues to be the account principal to some of the firm’s most prestigious clients.

A licensed P.E. in Arizona and California, Brennen is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. degree in architectural engineering.  He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), Los Angeles Chapter; the 7x24 Exchange; and the ACEC Risk Management Committee.

Izzo, who joined Syska Hennessy Group in 1993, most recently served as senior vice president and the firm’s national critical facilities director – a position in which he will continue.  Under his leadership, a nationwide Critical Facilities Team was created to focus solely on designing, building, commissioning and operating critical and hypercritical facilities for 24/7 data-driven enterprises. Clients include leading financial services, manufacturing, utilities, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and biotech companies as well as healthcare providers and state and federal government agencies.

Izzo has over 20 years of experience with all aspects of major building systems projects.  He holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College and is a  licensed P.E. in five states: NY, NJ, MA, PA, and CT.  He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the 7 x 24 Exchange and CoreNet Global.
