Norman H. Asbjornson, a 1960 mechanical engineering graduate of the College of Engineering at Montana State University, led the charge to the class for Montana State University’s 2002 engineering commencement ceremonies in Bozeman, MT, on May 11.

“Attitude and goals will not function without your taking action to make them happen,” said Asbjornson, CEO of AAON, Inc. (Tulsa, OK), an industry leader in large-scale commercial hvac units. "Do not be afraid of failure, for failure is a stepping-stone to your next success."

During his address to the class of new engineers and computer scientists, Asbjornson drew upon values formed during his life in rural Winifred, MT. He charged the students to be accountable and responsible, to exhibit a good attitude, to ask questions and seek answers, and not to be afraid to fail. He encouraged the students to take responsibility for supporting their communities and their college as they mature as individuals and progress in their careers. Asbjornson currently serves on both the College of Engineering’s External Advisory Council and on the Montana State University Foundation’s Board of Directors.
